New Name.

Hello and a very happy new year to you! I hope this new year proves to be a gracious one, and an even better than the last year for you and your loved ones.

You may have (or may have not) noticed that I changed the name of this blog. While I do still feel perfectly at home in New England, I never did quite love the name. I've known for quite some time that this project blog that I plan to continue writing for a very long time needed a name that sounded as good as I hope my posts (hopefully) were and will be. As I was doing my usual weekend blog hopping (it was a snowy day and I was in bed sick, so a great way to pass the time), I came across a blog posting from a pretty popular "preppy" blog. On this posting, a picture was shared.

Upon reading these words, I knew that this should be the name of my blog. After all, it is one of the main reasons that we chose to move to New England. The friendly people, the beautiful scenery, and of course, the abundance of gorgeous old homes. While I do have many other interests, my love of old houses really drew me to this magnificent part of the country. So, welcome to my blog entitled, "He Who Loves an Old House".

On an unrelated topic, I received a comment from "Anonymous"asking me why I blog. I'm not sure if the intention was proper or to be taken rudely, but I thought about the question, for quite some time. One year, five months, and twenty-three days ago, I found myself in a new place that I did not know even one person. Miles and miles from my nearest family member, just me and my husband and our furry family members. If you've ever ventured very far from your friends and family, you know what a scary and daunting fact this may be. I suppose I blog as a comfort. To meet new "friends", people who share the same interests that I do, and a love of all things beautiful, historic, and things with a sense of history. I hope that what I write conveys this, and that years later when I look back upon all of this (this is, after all, a diary of sorts), that I have an assortment of fond memories to cherish forever with my new-found friends and family in my favorite part of the world.

xoxo
